Everything We Need to Know About 2024

Today, we review Apple’s flagship smartwatch: the Apple Watch Series 10, launched in 2024. And like every other review, we go in-depth to review this new techno wonder in light of its predecessors and main competitors. Buckle up, tech enthusiasts; this is your all-inclusive trip into the Apple Watch Series 10!

What’s new in the Apple Watch Series 10?

Well, Apple has always tried to outdo itself with each new cycle of its smartwatches, and the Apple Watch Series 10 is no exception. This year’s model continues its tradition of innovation on several fronts: firstly, display and design.

1. Enhanced Display and Design

Apple Watch Series 10 is larger and always on, providing 20% more display than the previous Series 9. In other words, that means one finds it easier to read notifications, track workouts, and interact with apps. Sleek, more refined in design, thinner bezels, and an option in titanium that weighs durability against a premium feel.

Display Size: Feature a 2.1-inch screen display, which is larger compared to the Series 9’s 1.9-inch of screen size.

Materials: Apart from aluminum and stainless steel casings, a new model in the form of titanium is also being introduced within the Series 10 for hardcore outdoorsmen and pros looking for something strong yet lightweight.

2. Advanced Health Monitoring

Health and fitness have always been the main areas where Apple Watch has made its namesake, and that gets dialed up a notch with the Series 10. Key upgrades include:

Blood Pressure Monitoring: For the first time ever, this is an Apple Watch that you can buy with an integrated blood pressure sensor alongside existing heart rate, ECG, and Blood Oxygen monitoring.

Better Sleep Tracking: This given sleep tracking will improve your understanding of the stages of sleep, including REM, Deep, and Light sleep.

Enhanced Fall Detection: Because of the upgraded gyroscope and accelerometer features in the series 10-series, the detection of falls is more precise; even in that scenario, the emergency alert is very accurate.

3. Faster Performance and Better Battery Life

Powered by the new S10 chip, Apple Watch Series 10 brings full-on performance. Apps launch faster, and the general user experience is far smoother.

Battery Life: Apple has retained the same battery life as that on the Series 9 at 18 hours but has optimized the power management to have the battery last longer under heavy usage.

4. New Software Features

Series 10 is first with watchOS 11, introducing:

Even more customizable watch faces: Thanks to new widgets and complications designed around your needs.

Improved Siri Integration: Means that voice commands with even smarter responses make interacting with Siri that much easier on the wrist.

Fitness+ Updates: New workout types added along with real-time metrics make Fitness+ more holistic and interactive.

How Does It Compare to the Apple Watch Series 9?

How then would an Apple Watch Series 10 square up against its cousin, Series 9?

1. Display and Design: From the more giant always-on display with new materials to the Series 10, gains would surely be made both on functionality and aesthetic grounds over its cousin, the Series 9.

2. Health Monitoring: Blood pressure monitoring and improved sleep tracking are big strides away from the Series 9. Hence, if it’s health tracking that’s more important, then it goes right down to the Series 10 hands down.

3. Performance: The S10 chip on the Series 10 is more power-efficient, faster compared to the Series 9’s S9 chip. Hence, the Series 10 becomes more responsive and better in terms of performance when using resource-intensive applications.

4. Battery Life: Both wearables are rated for the same battery life, but power management enhancements with the Series 10 may yield longer battery life in practical use.

Overview of Competition

When considering the Apple Watch Series 10, you have to weight it up against some competition:

1. Samsung Galaxy Watch 6: Galaxy Watch 6 For the money, the display is incredibly alive, and the slew of health features will put it in a good position to compete, no doubt. Of course, none of the blood pressure monitoring made an appearance on the Galaxy Watch 6. I can see it on Amazon at this link.

2. Fitbit Charge 6: Fitness tracker from Fitbit, with advanced health tracking and even longer battery life. Still, however, it cannot offer smart functionality compared to what the Apple Watch delivers. I can see it on Amazon at this link.

3. Garmin Venu 3: Geared toward the professional athlete, the Garmin Venu 3 is an absolute powerhouse for advanced fitness and GPS tracking. For all of its sporting features, this smartwatch doesn’t function as a general smartwatch quite on par with the Series 10 models. I can see it on Amazon at this link.

Pricing and Availability

The base level Apple Watch Series 10 starts at $399 as of September 2024, while the high-end model made with titanium will cost something near $699. Pre-orders opened in early September, and an official release is pegged later this month.

The Apple Watch Series 10 is a good update from its predecessor in display, health monitoring, and performance, even enhancing software. While it might not steamroll over the bevy of competitors from smartwatch and fitness-tracking rivals, new features and refined design make it very desirable to those deeply embedded within the Apple ecosystem or wanting one of the best smartwatches out there.
