El 18 de abril, Huawei launched the new Pura 70 for the Asian market, successors to the “P” series. These devices represent a significant milestone for Huawei, as they are the smartphones from the brand with the highest degree of Chinese manufacturing, with almost 90% of their components coming from this country. This transition reflects Huawei’s effort to reduce its dependence on American technologies. The company has strengthened its partnerships with Chinese manufacturers such as BOE, Samsung Display, and other Asian companies to secure high-quality components without relying on external suppliers. This move towards almost exclusively Chinese manufacturing is crucial to Huawei’s strategy of fully nationalizing its mobile phone production.

Despite the challenges it faces in the global market, Huawei has achieved notable success in China, becoming one of the country’s leading smartphone manufacturers. However, its growth has raised concerns in the United States, especially regarding the origin of its chips. Although there have been attempts to hinder collaboration between Huawei and Chinese companies like SMIC, Huawei continues to advance technologically, as evidenced by the inclusion of the Kirin 9010 processor in the Pura 70. Despite this progress, Huawei faces tough competition from giants like TSMC, which are already producing chips with much more advanced manufacturing processes. This scenario presents a challenge for Huawei in its quest to remain competitive in the long run.
